WHAT IS A HOUSE OF PRAYER?

I.      The House of Prayer is a ministry of worship to God.

A.   It’s not a denomination.  It is not even a network.

B.    You can’t really say, “It’s not a church” because it is the Church – not solely, but inclusively, just as other members of Christ’s Body also comprise the Church, regardless of where they gather.

C.    The House of Prayer is a movement that God is raising up throughout the earth today.  It is a Prayer and Worship Movement, and it is established in the spirit of the Tabernacle of David.

i.      In its fullest sense, it is designed to become a prayer center where 24/7 worship and prayer takes place even as it did at the Tabernacle of David.

ii.     In David’s Tabernacle, the Ark of God was surrounded with priestly worshipers, skilled musicians, spontaneous songs, prophecy and prayer.  In fact, many of the Psalms were written and recorded by a scribe (or scribes) in the Tabernacle of David.

  1. iii.  Furthermore, David ordered that these worshiping intercessors were sustained financially.  They were paid in order to be able to perpetuate “incense” arising before the God of glory continually.    Today these worshiping intercessors functioning in priestly ministry are called “Intercessory Missionaries” who raise support to continue ministering in the House of Prayer.

II.    Why attempt to replicate the Tabernacle of David?

A.   Out of all the houses in Scripture (Tabernacle of Moses, Temple of Solomon, Herod’s Temple), the Tabernacle of David is the only one that God said He would rebuild.

Acts 15:15  NKJV  And with this the words of the prophets agree, just as it is written:
16  ‘After this I will return and will rebuild the tabernacle of David, which has fallen down; I will rebuild its ruins, and I will set it up;

17  So that the rest of mankind may seek the LORD, even all the Gentiles who are called by My name, says the LORD who does all these things.’

This is in reference to the prophecy of Amos 9:11-12.

B.    The purpose of a 24/7 House of Prayer in the spirit of the Tabernacle of David is so that all mankind may seek the Lord.

i.      The House of Prayer crosses denominational boundaries.

ii.     Worshiping intercessors are set in place to offer unceasing prayer and worship because Jesus is worthy of such lavish affection and adoration.

iii.   The marrying of worship and intercession results in the power of God being released in the earth.

Rev. 8:3, NKJV Then another angel, having a golden censer, came and stood at the altar. He was given much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all the saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne.

4  And the smoke of the incense, with the prayers of the saints, ascended before God from the angel’s hand.

5  Then the angel took the censer, filled it with fire from the altar, and threw it to the earth. And there were noises, thunderings, lightnings, and an earthquake.
